St. Helens City Council to Interview Council Applicants September 14
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. Helens, Ore. – Due to a recent resignation on the St. Helens City Council, the City of St. Helens opened an application process for interested residents to be appointed to fill the vacant council seat. The application deadline was Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 5 p.m.
The City received 10 applications, and all the applicants have been verified as eligible for appointment. The following individuals submitted applications:
- Virginia Carlson
- Jay Echternach
- Nicholas Hellmich
- Russell Hubbard
- Scott Jacobson
- Brady Preheim
- Jared Stram
- Stephen Topaz
- Steve Toschi
- Diana Wiener
The Council will meet in a Special Session on Thursday, September 14, 2023, beginning at 5:15 p.m. where they will interview all the applicants via Zoom. This is a public meeting that is being held via Zoom only. Zoom details will be available on the agenda which will be posted on the City’s website (www.sthelensoregon.gov/meetings) by September 8, 2023, at 5 p.m. If you would like to watch the meeting, please go to the City’s YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/@cityofst.helensoregon138/streams.
While the City Council may make an appointment selection at the September 14 meeting, a decision is not required to be made. The City Council may elect to conduct finalist interviews or can reopen the application process.
