St. Helens Walking Trail Improvements
Wyeth Street Stairs at Grey Cliffs Park
Rehabilitation and expansion of the Wyeth Street staircase at Grey Cliffs Park is underway. The stairs provide pedestrian access from River Street at the entrance of Grey Cliffs Park to Wyeth Street/North River Street above the park.
The City’s Parks and Trails Master Plan, adopted in 2015, identified the Wyeth Street stairs as a park improvement need. The St. Helens Parks and Trails Commission recently advocated for the project at their commission meetings.
By using leftover materials from other projects, St. Helens Public Works crews have been able to rehabilitate the existing stairs and add new stairs to the path at minimal cost. Concrete was added to the steps to help prevent future erosion and add stability to the path.
The view from the top of the stairs overlooks the Columbia River, Sand Island, Mount St. Helens, Mount Hood, and the St. Helens Riverfront District.
