St. Helens Public Library Board Book Club

This month's theme is FOOD (since that’s all we’ll be thinking about between now and January....)! We'll all have a chance to share our thoughts and book/author recommendations during informal conversation.

This is a great theme for both fiction and nonfiction. Light snacks and beverages will be available.

Getting Started with Your Genealogy: Basics and Myths

Wondering where to start on your family history? Overwhelmed by inherited memorabilia? Have you inherited some family tree information but need to know where to find “the harder stuff?” This session will cover some of the things you need to know to get your genealogy started or to get it moving again, as well as some of the myths that might be plaguing your efforts.

This introductory session could turn into a series of presentations, depending on the needs and desires of those who attend!

OWYHEE RIVER PRESENTATION AT ST. HELENS PUBLIC LIBRARY

St. Helens, Ore. – St. Helens Public Library will host author Bonnie Olin for a presentation and slideshow on one of the most remote areas in the lower 48 states: The Owyhee Canyonlands. The presentation, titled “The Owyhee River Journals,” will take place on Tuesday, November 7, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the St. Helens Public Library, 375 S. 18th Street.

ADULT CIVICS PROGRAMS OFFERED AT ST. HELENS PUBLIC LIBRARY

St. Helens, Ore. – The St. Helens Public Library will host a series of Civics for Adults community workshops designed to enhance civic knowledge and inspire political engagement. Led by Donna L. Cohen, a teacher and librarian, the workshops are non-partisan, free to the public, and no pre-registration is required.
