St. Helens Public Works Crews Quickly Repair Water Main Break Caused by Extreme Heat
Water service was restored to the area of South 1st Street and Cowlitz Street in St. Helens thanks to the quick response of our St. Helens Public Works crew.
We received a report that water service was disrupted at 31 Cowlitz Street on the afternoon of Monday, June 28. A Public Works crew responded to the area and was able to quickly locate and isolate the water main break. Emergency repairs were made and water service was restored to the affected area in approximately one hour.
We believe the break was due to the extreme heat. Fluctuations in the water pressure caused the water main to buckle.
Public Works crews will return tomorrow, June 29, to patch the concrete cuts that were made in order to access the water main and make the emergency repairs.
