Public Works Operations
The City Shop is where the Operations and Maintenance crews are based. These crews perform a wide variety of duties on a daily basis such as upgrades, maintenance and repairs for the streets, storm drains, sewer and water distribution systems that serve the residents of St. Helens. They provide many of the fundamental services required to keep a community running smoothly.
Our Operations Division is responsible for many things including maintenance of traffic control signs, street sweeping, installing new water services, drinking water testing and making sure storm and sewer lines are clear. Our work is often behind the scenes, so you may not even think about them until they are repairing a street in front of your workplace or maintaining a water or sewer line in front of your home.
WARNING!
Water meters are City property and should not be tampered with. If you have a water or sewer emergency, such as a broken pipe or leak, call us at 503-397-3532 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Outside of these hours, please call After-Hours Emergency at 503-397-1521. A staff person is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
