Youth Winter Reading Program
Youth Winter Reading Program
December 1st through January 10th
Stay cozy at home as winter starts with our Youth Winter Reading Program! Keep track of the time you spend reading, and you'll earn prizes along the way. And the more you read, the more entries you'll have into our grand prize drawings for gift cards to Powell's Books. This program is free and open to anyone ages 0 to 18. Registration begins November 27th at sthelens.beanstack.org.
How it works:
Log your reading time and earn badges and prizes at 5-hour intervals.
- 5 hours: cool pencil (i.e., a mood pencil that changes colors when you touch/hold it) and a cute eraser (a little Japanese eraser that looks like food or an animal or whatever)
- 10 hours: animal bookmark (like a ribbon with a little plush head at the top and little plush legs at the bottom) OR a picture book notebook (a little notepad that has the cover of a Dr Seuss or Eric Carle book on the cover)
- 15 hours: reading light OR a colorable bookmark with a pack of colored pencils
- 20 hours: travel mug with a hot cocoa packet OR a pack of Smencils
These prizes can be picked up during curbside pickup as they're earned.
At the end of the program, there will be a drawing for a $50 Powell's gift card and two $25 Powell's gift cards.
