Friends of the St. Helens Public Library
The Friends of the St. Helens Public Library was incorporated August 13, 1980, to support the St. Helens Public Library. Our mission is to support library programs and services through book sales and encouragement of book and monetary donations.
We believe everyone in the community can benefit from the Library and we work to make it happen in the following ways:
- We host two major books sales each year, and have a large collection of books, DVDs and audiobooks for sale in the Columbia Center hallway. We use the income to enhance library services and programs, to acquire special items for its collection, and to purchase unbudgeted equipment.
- We support and promote the library services that inform, educate, and entertain the entire community, including storytimes, the summer reading challenge programs, and the Makerspace. Most recently, we purchased a new laser cutter for the Makerspace, greatly expanding the products this equipment can perform.
- We volunteer our time and skills to support the Library. We offer assistance whenever the Library needs volunteers to help accomplish special activities. We built, installed, and keep stocked four “little libraries” throughout the community.
The Friends meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Columbia Center auditorium.
Please join us in supporting this essential community resource!
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Serving on the Friends board
- Library book sales
- Library volunteer
