Youth programs
All programs are free, and you do not need to be a resident of St. Helens or have a St. Helens Public Library card to participate in any of our regular youth programs.
Some programs do require registration.
Storytimes for Babies, Toddlers, & Preschoolers:
All storytimes begin at 11:00a.m. in the Children's Room of the library each week and include stories, songs, and dances, designed to help young children's literacy skills at an age-appropriate level. No registration needed.
- Tuesday is designed for babies aged 6 months-2 years
- Wednesday is designed for toddlers aged 2 years-3 years
- Thursday is designed for preschoolers aged 3 years-5 years
Homeschool Hangout:
A special storytime and social hour at 1p.m. in the Auditorium for homeschool families. Children are welcome and encouraged to bring a favorite book to share with others while having fun frolics with friends new and old! No registration needed.

Lego Free Play Days:
Visit the Auditorium at 4p.m. for unstructured, drop-in LEGO play time with our growing collection of donated LEGO sets. DUPLO sets are available for younger children. Come create with us! No registration needed.
- 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.
- Ages 2-17.
Please note: Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
STEAM Zone:
Registration is required for this program. Join Mx. Aryn in the Makerspace for crafts, science experiments, and more at 3p. m.
- Registration required, limit 10
- First Wednesday
- Ages 8-12.
If registration is full, a waitlist will be started at the library front desk 30 minutes before the program. Empty spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the program.
Teen Anime Club:
Join us in the Auditorium for anime screenings and discussions about some of your favorites! Snacks will be provided.
- First Thursday of each month at 4p.m.
- Ages 13-17.
