St. Helens Public Library COVID-19 Policies
Updated July 31, 2020
The St. Helens Public Library is now open in a limited capacity for curbside pickup. We are monitoring health guidelines as our library services adapt during the pandemic.
While we are open for curbside, there are some important things to know:
-
Patrons can place up to five items on hold per card for curbside pickup. Holds may be placed online or by phone.
-
Items have their usual checkout and renewal periods.
-
Items will be pre-checked out to patrons to minimize contact.
-
Curbside pickup hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Fridays from 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
-
Holds are not ready for pickup until we have confirmed with you by phone.
-
-
All items checked out before March 12th are due back to the library as of July 15th.
-
Library staff will be emptying the outdoor book drop regularly and observing proper 96-hour quarantine procedures.
-
No overdue fines will be assessed during the 96-hour quarantine period.
-
-
Nonresident cards have been extended to Monday, September 7, 2020.
-
Patrons may make appointments or come to the window during curbside hours to renew resident cards, resolve account-related concerns, pay fines, and sign up for new cards. To make an appointment please call during our regular call hours 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
-
The St. Helens Public Library will continue offering a digital-access-only library card to our community members. This card is available to anyone regardless of residential address, age, or status of your current St. Helens Public Library card. These cards will expire on Monday, September 7, 2020.
-
Library patrons and digital card holders can continue to use:

If you require assistance, you can email us at shpl@ci.st-helens.or.us or call us at 503-397-4544. Phones will be staffed between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday, or you may leave a voicemail and we will respond as soon as possible.
-
Please check the Library’s website and social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) for updates. Policies may change as the situation evolves.
The Library staff would like to express our concern for the well-being of everyone in our community. We’re working hard to serve you during our limited re-opening, and we can’t wait to see you in person again.
