Portland Area Mystery Writer Selected for Columbia County Reads 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 28, 2020
ST. HELENS, OR – Portland area author Warren C. Easley and his latest mystery novel, “No Way to Die,” have been selected as the focus of Columbia County Reads 2020. “No Way to Die” is book seven in the Cal Claxton Mysteries, a book series set in Oregon about a workaholic Los Angeles prosecutor trying to rebuild his life as a small-town lawyer in Dundee, Oregon.
Formerly a research scientist and international business executive, author Warren C. Easley lives in the Portland area with his wife and dog. In addition to writing fiction, he enjoys tutoring GED students, skiing, fly fishing, and hiking. He received a Kay Snow National Award for fiction in 2012 and was named the Northwest’s Up and Coming Author in 2017. His fifth book in the Cal Claxton series, “Blood for Wine,” was one of five books short-listed for the coveted national Nero Wolfe Award.
Columbia County Reads is a yearly collaboration between Columbia County libraries to bring reading to the forefront of public discourse. If everyone reads the same book or author at the same time, it is hoped that it will inspire discussions, connections, and a shared perspective among Columbia County residents.
Participating libraries include Clatskanie Library District, Columbia City Community Library, Rainier City Library, Scappoose Public Library, St. Helens Public Library, and Vernonia Public Library. Each library plans to have all seven of the Cal Claxton books available for patrons to check out.
Easley will make author appearances in St. Helens, Rainier, Clatskanie, and Vernonia on the following dates:
- St. Helens Public Library, Wednesday, April 22, 7 p.m.
- Rainier City Hall Community Room, Thursday, April 23, 6 p.m.
- Clatskanie Cultural Center, Saturday, April 25, 7 p.m.
- Vernonia Public Library, Thursday, April 30, 6:30 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to attend whichever library event is most convenient for them.
