Part-time Library Assistant

The St. Helens Public Library has a job opening for a Library Assistant working 20 hours per week. A typical work week has four shifts of five hours each that might be scheduled morning/afternoon, afternoon/evening, and on Saturday. This position is funded in the current budget which ends on 6/30/2018. Funding beyond that date will be known in late May or early June.
The successful applicant will be supervised by the Library Director, but will receive direction and training from other library staff. A typical day will include routine duties within the library primarily serving patrons at the circulation desk and re-shelving collection items. Supplementary duties will include other activities in support of the library’s operation and special projects. A complete list of duties and responsibilities and desired minimum qualifications are listed on the attached job description.
The beginning hourly rate is $12.70 per hour. City-paid PERS after six months.
