FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 25, 2019

St. Helens, Ore. – Oregon peony grower Carol Adelman of the Adelman Peony Gardens will give a talk on “Growing Gorgeous Peonies” at the St. Helens Public Library on Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. The presentation will include information about planting, disease and care of peonies, and photos of outstanding varieties.

Carol and Jim Adelman oversee the Adelman Peony Gardens just north of the Salem-Keizer area. The family-run business was created out of Carol’s childhood love of beautiful peonies. After growing apples for 25 years, Carol decided to make a change and started growing peonies for sale. What began as a small business that sold peonies locally has now turned into a 25-acre display garden open to the public during the bloom season with over 500 varieties of peonies in the fields. Adelman Peony Gardens ships blooms to florists throughout the United States and peony roots internationally.

Carol co-authored the book “Peony: The best varieties for your garden” with David C. Michener. When she isn’t helping manage her business, Carol works on the Board of Directors for the American Peony Society (APS) and shows peony blooms at the annual APS flower competition. She has won Best of Show seven times. More information about the Adelman Peony Gardens can be found on their website at www.peonyparadise.com.
