Journal Making from Repurposed Books
Tuesday, January 8, 2019 - 7:00pm
Marnita Bahmer, of the Columbia Arts Guild, will lead a two-evening workshop in repurposing a book into a beautifully embellished journal. She will discuss various paper and fabric dying techniques. Participants will learn how to age with ink, incorporate ephemera, use stamping and stenciling as well as book binding.
A kit will be provided, but participants will need to bring their own scissors, a metal edge ruler, fast drying glue (for paper or fabric), and any ephemera that you would like to use in your finished journal – maps, printed tissue, postcards, pictures, etc.
During the month of February, the Columbia Arts Guild and the St. Helens Public Library will host the fourth Altered Books Show. Participants will be encouraged to display their completed journals along with other repurposed creations.
The class is limited to 10 participants age 16 and up. Please call the Library at 503-397-4544 to register.
