Grand Opening for New St. Helens Recreation Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 21, 2019
St. Helens, Ore. – The St. Helens community is invited to a grand opening celebration for the City’s new St. Helens Recreation Center. The open house will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1810 Old Portland Road.
Attendees can tour the building, learn about recreation programs and activities available in St. Helens this spring, and speak with St. Helens Recreation Program staff. Light refreshments will be available.
In April 2018, the City of St. Helens announced that it was launching a new St. Helens Recreation Program in partnership with the St. Helens School District. The goal of the program is to provide a central location where community members can find a wide range of free or low cost activities to enjoy.
The City acquired full access to the old FARA building at 1810 Old Portland Road in the winter of 2018 and began remodel work to convert the building into a community recreation center. Many of the recreation programs that are being offered in St. Helens this spring will be hosted in the new recreation center.
The Recreation Program’s Winter/Spring 2019 Activities Guide is available online at https://www.ci.st-helens.or.us/recreation.
