FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 11, 2021
St. Helens, Ore. – On Wednesday, March 10, at approximately 9:27 p.m., a St. Helens officer performed a routine traffic stop on a maroon Chevrolet pickup with Washington license plates. The driver, 27-year-old Saige Hassey, was driving while suspended, had no valid insurance, and was the subject of two outstanding warrants.
During the traffic stop, St. Helens police observed two large Milwaukee tool boxes in the bed of the truck which matched the description of items that had been reported stolen from a St. Helens residence earlier that day. The tool boxes were confirmed to be the reported stolen items and returned to their owner. An inventory of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Hassey was lodged at Columbia County Jail for two outstanding warrants and charges of Theft I and Criminal Trespass II. He was also cited for driving while suspended, driving while uninsured, and possession of methamphetamine.
