St. Helens Police Introduce First Thursday Community Meetings
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 12, 2018
St. Helens, Ore. – The St. Helens Police Department is introducing a new program designed to bring the St. Helens community and local law enforcement together once a month for meaningful conversation about the community.
First Thursday is a monthly meeting that will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. A new topic will be presented at each meeting related to community safety, crime prevention, police services, or seasonal-specific safety information. After a brief presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask St. Helens officers questions, find out what’s happening in St. Helens neighborhoods, and discuss any topics of concern with fellow community members.
“First Thursday is a chance for the St. Helens Police Department to build strong community relationships and find out first-hand what concerns our residents have,” said St. Helens Police Chief Brian Greenway. “We hope these meetings become a place where we can grow stronger as a police department and help make connections in the community, not just between police officers and residents, but also neighbor to neighbor.”
The inaugural First Thursday meeting will be held on Thursday, October 4 at 7 p.m. in the Columbia Center Auditorium at 375 S. 18th Street, St. Helens. St. Helens officers will give a brief presentation on Halloween and trick-or-treat safety. After the presentation, officers will be available to answer questions and help facilitate a discussion among attendees.
The vision of the St. Helens Police Department is to provide professional police services that will secure public trust and keep our neighborhoods safe and free of crime. Our mission is to work with all citizens to make our city a place where people live safely and to promote individual responsibility and community commitment.
