ST. HELENS, OR – The St. Helens Police Department invites all trick-or-treaters to visit the police station this Halloween. The Department is hosting its third annual Trunk or Treat event on Halloween night, October 31, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the St. Helens Police Department located at 150 S. 13th Street.

Local businesses, individuals, and community organizations will be on hand to give out candy and offer activities in which children may participate and learn about programs available to them in the community.

Halloween Trunk or Treat provides a safe and friendly environment for families to enjoy Halloween fun. Costumed children trick-or-treat outdoors by going from car trunk to car trunk and table to table to play games and activities and collect treats. St. Helens residents and visitors are invited to bring their children to this fun community event. Adults must accompany children – No drop offs! Children are encouraged to wear costumes!

Individuals and businesses who would like to participate in the event may register on the Police Department’s website at https://www.ci.st-helens.or.us/police/webform/st-helens-police-departmen...  or by contacting Malinda Duran at 503-397-3333, option 2, or malindad@ci.st-helens.or.us to secure a spot. Participants with vehicles are encouraged to decorate their trunks and dress in costume; however, we ask that you keep in mind that this event is for young children. No alcoholic beverages are permitted and there is no charge to participate. The St. Helens City Council is sponsoring an award for best trunk decorations this year.

Over 300 children participated with their families the last two years and the St. Helens Police Department expects a higher turnout for 2019. For that reason, participants should bring plenty of candy to share with trick-or-treaters. Businesses and interested organizations or individuals who would like to host a booth or car should submit an application to the Police Department by Wednesday, October 23.

“We look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces as we once again offer this Halloween activity,” stated Police Support Specialist and Trunk or Treat event organizer Malinda Duran.
