St. Helens Man Arrested in Child Sex Abuse
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 11, 2017
The disclosure from a young girl of inappropriate contact by a trusted adult, led to the arrest of a fifty six year old St. Helens man late last week. The investigation that followed, has officers considering that more victims are possible.
Detectives from the Longview Washington Police Department received a disclosure from a girl that a man from St. Helens touched her inappropriately. The eleven year old girl reports that this event occurred when she was six years old, in the City of Longview Washington.
On Friday August 4, 2017 Longview Detectives and St. Helens Police Officers went to 36058 Construction Way, St. Helens Oregon in an effort to interview Anthony Wayne Dewey. When Mr. Dewey refused to come to the door, officers returned with a search warrant.
During the execution of that search warrant, Mr. Dewey was arrested. Follow up searches of Mr. Dewey’s residence revealed photograph and video tape evidence of the crimes that were alleged. Among the other items that were recovered in the residence, officers found evidence of child pornography and several pieces of clothing. Numerous pieces of underwear, swimsuits, and costumes that would belong to unidentified girls from five to twelve years old were collected.
On Thursday August 10, 2017, a Columbia County Grand Jury began receiving evidence related to this investigation. At the time of this press release the grand jury has indicted Mr. Dewey with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. He remains in the Columbia County Jail. The investigation continues and more charges are expected.
