Hiring Process
Important Note: Applications are only accepted when recruiting is being advertised through the City's website.
An application must be completed online here and you must attach a cover letter and resume to your online application.
Recruit applicants must complete the required testing through the National Testing Network. Qualified lateral entry applicants are not required to participate in the testing.
Top scoring recruits and qualified lateral applicants will be invited to participate in an oral board interview.
Candidates selected for employment will submit to pre-employment screening that will include psychological and medical testing, a drug screen, an extensive background investigation, and the ORPAT physical agility test.
Candidates may also be required to complete a ride-along evaluation and participate in an interview with the Chief of Police.
To be considered a Lateral Entry Applicant, the following additional requirements must be met:
· Laterals must be a Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) certified police officer currently employed with a law enforcement agency in any state.
· And be eligible for the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Career Officer Development course if the certification was obtained in another state.
