Gable Road Construction Update
Gable Road: US30 - Columbia Blvd, Sidewalks
Project update from Columbia County Public Works Department
September 1- September 7 Update
This week:
- The north side of the road was paved between the Safeway bottle drop exit and the Avamere entrance.
- The last (west) high school driveway was paved along with the south side of Gable road in front of the driveway.
- The full width of the road was opened to two-way traffic between HWY 30 and the Avamere entrance.
- Temporary striping was installed for the crosswalk between the high school and Safeway property.
- A temporary asphalt walkway was paved in front of the construction staging yard near Safeway.
- Crews began staging materials along the road west of Rockwood drive in preparation for continued storm work.
Next week:
- TFT will resume work on the new storm system starting just west of Rockwood drive and working towards Columbia Blvd.
- NOTE: Traffic delays are expected for the next few weeks between Rockwood Dr and Greenbrier Lp while the new storm system is installed.
- There is potential for more rock hammering during the storm work.
