St. Helens Residents: Get Ready for the Return of Spirit of Halloweentown's Month-Long 2024 Celebration!

St. Helens, Ore. - The Spirit of Halloweentown returns from September 28 through October 31, 2024, transforming the historic city of St. Helens into a Halloween wonderland. The month-long celebration offers spooky attractions, celebrity meet and greets, live performances, and family-friendly activities inspired by the Disney Channel’s classic movie “Halloweentown.”

Event Highlights:

  • Great Pumpkin Lightings: Every weekend, experience the magic as the Great Pumpkin is lit, featuring special guest appearances.
  • Haunted Attractions: Test your bravery at Nightmare on 4th Street and the Haunted House, open on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Celebrity Meet and Greets: The weekend of October 12-13 will feature a “Halloweentown duo! Meet J. Paul Zimmerman (Dylan Piper) and Phillip Van Dyke (Luke) from the iconic Disney movie. Get your photo taken with these stars and relive the magic for $85+.
  • Kathy Najimy from “Hocus Pocus”: Don’t miss your chance to meet the legendary Kathy Najimy on October 12-13. Known for her roles as Mary Sanderson in “Hocus Pocus” and Sister Mary Patrick in “Sister Act,” Kathy will be available for photo-ops and autographs for $65+. She has also recently reprised her role in “Hocus Pocus 2 and is the beloved voice of Peggy Hill in “King of the Hill.”

Scarecrow and Window Decorating Contest:

Local businesses are invited to participate in the Business Scarecrow & Window Decorating Contest! This is your chance to show off your creative Halloween spirit, gain visibility, and win cash (gift card) prizes. Entries must be received by September 29 and decor must be ready by October 5.

  • How It Works: Create a scarecrow or decorate your storefront to compete for the top prize, or enter both categories!
  • Why Participate: Winning businesses will receive cash (gift card) prizes and mystery goodies, with the added bonus of extra promotion to event visitors.

Run for Mayor of Halloweentown:

Join the fun and run for Mayor of Halloweentown! Set up a booth, show off your creativity, and campaign for votes on the first Saturday of October. Voting will be digital, allowing both in-person and online participation.

Street Closures & Parking Info:

  • South 1st Street from Cowlitz Street to St. Helens Street will be closed Fridays at 5 p.m. through Mondays at 12 a.m.
  • The Free City Parking Lot access between the Masonic Building and 2Cs Vendor Mall building at South 1st Street and South 2nd Street will be CLOSED during the street closure hours listed above through November 6. South 1st Street businesses will receive parking passes for employees on the weekends and the parking lot will be monitored. Parking access for the general public will be available during weekdays behind the big tent by using the South 2nd Street entrance. The entrance off of South 1st Street will remain closed for the duration of the event.
  • Free public parking during the weekdays is available along South 1st Street, St. Helens Street, South 2nd and South 3rd Streets adjacent to the John Gumm Building, the Plaza Square, on Cowlitz Street, and in the free City parking lot behind the big tent using the South 2nd Street entrance.
  • Festival attendees are being directed to use the paid parking lot behind the Recreation Center building at 1810 Old Portland Road off of Kaster Road across from McCormick Park. Shuttle buses will be running from the parking lot to the Riverfront District on the weekends during the event.
  • Due to limited parking, please use the event’s designated paid parking lot to attend the event at 1810 Old Portland Rd, St. Helens. Parking is $25 online or $30 at the event, with complimentary shuttle service to and from Spirit of Halloweentown (a quick 4-minute ride).
  • Riverfront District businesses should have received an event information packet this week from Treadway Events.

Event Operating Hours:

  • Saturdays: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Sundays: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Halloween (October 31): Limited activities from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Ticket Information:

  • The festival is free to explore, but tickets are required for select activities, including the Haunted House, exhibits, attractions and celebrity photo-ops.
  • General Admission: $40 (online), $45 (at the door) for adults; $20 (online), $25 (at the door) for children 12 and under. Children 5 and under are free.
  • Haunted House Tickets: $15 (online), $20 (at the door).
  • Local Residents Discount: St. Helens residents can save $10 on tickets by purchasing them at the door with a valid ID that shows you live in St. Helens.
