The City of St. Helens Administration Department is seeking applications for the position of Utility, Banking & Court Specialist. This position performs routine clerical, administrative, and data processing tasks.  Coordinates and processes bank deposits and processes utility billing uploads and adjustments. Performs other related public services in support of Administration Department operations. Minimum Qualifications:  Graduation from high school or GED; plus 2+ years of experience in general office practices such as typing, data processing, and customer service. 

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Banking Services or other positions related to cash handling.
  • Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working with modern office practices and programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Skills in operating computers, 10-key calculator, phone, fax, and copy machine.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish successful working relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and/or request interruptions.
  • Ability to work with angry and/or difficult customers.

Salary:  The position is full-time and offers a base wage scale of $3,370 (Step 1) to $4,098 (Step 5) per month.  The City also provides an excellent benefits package.  This is a union covered position.
