St. Helens Employee Appointed to Regional Equity in Recovery Council
City of St. Helens employee Rachael Barry has been appointed by the Governor’s Office to the North Coast Regional Equity in Recovery Council. Rachael is our Government Affairs and Project Support Specialist. She is one of only four people from Columbia County appointed to the Council and the only local government representative.
The Council is made up of representatives who provide a regional voice to the Governor’s Office and the Governor’s Racial Justice Council. The Racial Justice Council was formed to change how we listen to, engage with, respond to, and support Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and Tribal members in Oregon.
Rachael and the rest of the Council are tasked with:
- Helping to set a framework that ensures equity in recovery and economic opportunity
- Reviewing and offering feedback to the RJC on policy and budget proposals
- Identifying state policy areas that are barriers to inclusivity; reviewing regional state agency operation with an eye toward equity and inclusivity
- Informing Governor Brown on regional equity priorities
