Roger Stauffer Named City of St. Helens Employee of the Year
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 2, 2017
St. Helens, Ore. – The City of St. Helens is pleased to announce that Building Maintenance Utility Worker Roger Stauffer has been named the 2016 Employee of the Year. The award was announced at the City’s annual employee recognition banquet on January 27, 2017.
Stauffer was one of 11 employees nominated by his peers for the award. He received four nominations and was described as a person who takes on projects with initiative and leadership; uses his personal experience and ingenuity to come up with solutions; is selfless with his time; and has a positive attitude everywhere he goes.
Stauffer is one of the newer employees at the City of St. Helens. He was hired in March 2016. Prior to working for the City, Stauffer owned Roger Stauffer Remodeling. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School in Pennsylvania where he started work as a carpenter before moving to Oregon to work for Warner Bros. Construction. Since being hired with the City, Stauffer has assisted with the installation of the new pedestrian bridge at McCormick Park, replacement of a damaged roof on the Columbia View Park restrooms, and construction, set up and tear down for City events such as Spirit of Halloweentown and Christmas decorations.
A City employee of the year is someone who consistently exemplifies behaviors that reflect favorably on the City. He or she is an employee that goes above and beyond on a regular basis; someone who goes the extra mile to help customers, both internally and externally; responds to inquiries in an efficient and timely manner; regularly participates in employee-related events; puts the City’s interests and the interests of his or her co-workers above their own; has an exemplary attendance record; behaves off duty in a manner that reflects positively on the City since City employees are public officials even outside work; has a positive attitude no matter the circumstances; and is noticed by people in and out of the organization.
