Celebrating the St. Helens School District for Public Schools Week
Happy Public Schools Week! This has been an especially challenging year for teachers and students alike. Thank you to the teachers, students, specialists, administrators, board members, and parents who make our school system the best it can be. Strong schools build strong communities.
The City is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the St. Helens School District. Here are just a few of the ways the City and the school district have worked together in the past years:
- Gym space for the youth basketball program.
- The St. Helens Afterschool Recreation Program, which serves all 4 elementary schools in the district.
- 5 afterschool clubs at the St. Helens Middle School.
- Shared space for community engagement sessions.
- Library field trips and monthly in-class story times with Head Start classes.
- Family literacy nights.
- Science fair preparation with in-class visits to learn about doing research, and an event to prepare display boards.
- Advanced Maker programs for to middle schoolers taught by Bonnie Adams.
- Featuring the St Helens High School robotics team as a community partner for Maker Fest and Summer Reading events.
- Hands-on lessons with coding robots in class.
We look forward to continuing to find new ways to work with our schools. Join us in thanking the St. Helen School District!
